I am not hard to please. I do not mind paying for a good meal. I truly enjoy good food. I was not at all impressed with the Harbour Front Restaurant. The lobster tasted like it was made with imitation crab. The scallops, so close to Digby, were sadly undistinguished. We are talking here about very basic menu items. I wouldn't go back. I wouldn't recommend the establishment. My wife was even less impressed. By contrast, tonight. In Annapolis Royal, we had an outstanding dinner, for roughly the same price. The Harbour Front seems to put little thought into its food. That is reflected in the product.
Food was mediocre, although the burger was thin and over cooked. Plenty of deep fried food.Beer selection was very limited, which is surprising these days considering the dozens of breweries opening up all over the province. Itd be nice to see some local craft beers on the menu. That said, the view was very nice and the service was great. Just not somewhere Id go back for food or drink.
Great view, great staff and good food. Loved the seafood chowder. I really enjoyed eating here and I definitely recommend the place. It did however seem a bit difficult to access if you're bound to a wheelchair, and the brand of sparkling water wasn't up to par.
We really enjoyed the deserts and the mussels were good so I added a star. The burger was average and the seafood platter was decent but I have had better haddock and scallops (seemed more prepackaged than fresh but to be fair there were no 'fresh' made claims). For an oceanside restaurant in a tourist destination I would have appreciated some freshly made tartar or seafood sauce as opposed to the small prepackaged sauces that were served.
We were very disappointed with the food here. It seemed to us that the meal had been cooked from prepackaged precooked frozenseafood. For a restaurant in a sea resort town it was very disappointing. We are from New Brunswick and we know how to cook fresh seafood, but there are times when you want to go somewhere to eat and relax. What's more important is the fact that tourists going in to a restaurant expecting good home cooked seafood dishes then served deep fried everything will be disappointed. In New Brunswick there could be guidelines set out by a restaurateurs association to establish how seafood is prepared without all the batter. Couque St. Jacques anyone
