The boat and crew were phenomenal. We saw a half dozen whales of several different types, and the biologists on board were extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic about everything we saw! The cruise was extremely stable, the boat had plenty of room for everyone to find a good viewing spot, and the hot chocolate on the trip back to port was a perfect touch!
Not only did we love St Andrew, our 3 hour tour with Quoddy Link was easily the highlight of our entire vacation. We took a 10 am sailing and were impressed by the speed and stability of the catamaran, even in a slight chop on the Bay. In a quick hour we were already seeing whales... maybe 6 or 7, within hundreds of yards. On our way back, grey and harbor seals, bald eagles and porpoises. The on-board naturalists were super, answering all of our questions and even pulling out a touch-tank with some mussels, starfish and snails. On the way back into harbor they surprised us with hot chocolate and cookies!Dress warmly as it gets cold on the water, though blankets are provided. What can I say: this tour is THE BEST!!
There is a large selection of whale watching cruise companies to choose from in the area - let me help you make it easier ... go with Quoddy Link! The crew is great - extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the boat was also amazing (large, comfortable, great look out spots on the upper deck, steady/smooth and lots of room to move around). So glad we went Quoddy Link.We went fairly early in the season for whales (June 17th) so didn't have too high of expectations - but we had a fantastic time and were treated with porpoises, seals, MANY bald eagles, and a minke whale! I believe the tour took approximately 3 hours, but it was well worth the time. The captain went out of his way to follow the whale and give us multiple opportunities to view - while other cruises around us seemed to give up after the whale was out of view for a while, we continued to respectfully follow and see the whale come up over and over again. Whales are only a small part of this experience though; the other sights are amazing. The shoreline, houses, islands, lighthouses, whirlpools, other wildlife.... it was honestly one of our favourite experiences in our whole 2 week vacation of Atlantic Canada.
Enjoyed the tour very much with my family. Very knowledgeable crew and very comfortable boat. My daughter enjoyed the sea animals at the touch table. There was a nice treat of hot chocolate and cookies on the way back. We will definitely go again at next our visit.
Had the best first time whale watching experience I could have ever imagined! The boat is quite large and lots of room to sit and enjoy the beautiful views. We saw tons of whales and even stayed out longer than scheduled as it was quite exciting with whales all around! The staff is very knowledgeable and we got cookies and hot chocolate!
